Microsoft has just released a new Office 2016 preview build for members of the Insider program that comes with several improvements, including a full black theme for the built-in apps, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Office Insider Preview build 16.0.6568.2016 includes ink annotations for all three apps, new charts, functions, more “send as” options, and improved formula autocomplete in Excel. Outlook has also received a series of enhancements to find contacts more easily, according to the official release notes.

“Ever looked for a contact and realize that couple of them have the same name? You will now be able to pick the right one as Outlook will show you not only the names but also the picture of your contacts,” Microsoft explains in the change log.

PowerPoint has received real-time presence notifications, so if you are working with some of your colleagues on the same presentation, you should be able to see not only who is accessing your file but also which slide they’re editing.

But certainly, the dark theme is the big star of the release, as it makes the productivity suite better fit the desktop, especially in Windows 10. The new operating system comes with a dark theme of its own too.

Keep in mind that all these improvements are only available in the preview build of Office, so they’re not released for public users for the time being.
