Microsoft has just shipped a major update for its OneNote note-taking app on Windows 10, rolling out new features that were previously tested with help from insiders and released about a month ago.

First and foremost, this new version of OneNote comes with options to create diagrams and flow charts, so you can now go to the Shapes gallery to be able to insert circles, squares, arrows, or other elements in your notes. This should come in handy especially when working on presentations that are later exported to a different application.

Then, there are options to save images and files from your notes to anywhere on your computer and the only thing you have to do is right-click the item you want to save.

There’s also a new page placement, with Microsoft saying that users can quickly “add a new page below the currently selected one, rather than at the bottom of the page list.” The update includes new bullet styles and paragraph handles, as well as one very handy feature that allows you to configure password protection for your notes.

Setting a password is super-easy, so you can just right-click the notebook that you want to protect and then configure a password.

Since this is an update released through the Store, getting the new version is a process that only takes a few seconds, so if you like these new features, you know what you have to do.
