Microsoft has reiterated its commitment to supporting apps built for rival platforms in an internal memo today, so expect updates for the company’s services on iOS and Android to continue arriving in the coming days, weeks, and months.

Today, for example, it’s Skype’s turn to receive an update, this time on iOS, so users of iPhones and iPads can head to the store to download version 6.16.

As far as changes in this version are concerned, there are only two different lines included in the change log, but both are equally important for those who use Skype on an iPhone or an iPad.

First and foremost, Skype now allows users to save video messages on the device, which gives them more control over the files they receive in conversations. Say someone sends you a funny video with a cat; Skype now allows you to save that video to your device and then reshare it with someone else or simply store and watch it at a later time.

The second change concerns Skype’s performance on iOS devices, as Microsoft “made big improvements to how the app works with external microphones, interfaces, and devices.”

The update is available right now from the App Store, and everyone is recommended to get it as fast as possible because some other unnamed bug fixes and performance improvements are likely to be included as well.
