Offline viewing comes in Netflix for Windows 10 app

Netflix rolled out offline viewing and download options late last year, and now the company is bringing this functionality in the Windows 10 client as well.

Starting today, users of the official Netflix app available in the Windows Store can easily download movies to their local drives and watch them at a later time just like a standard video file that’s stored on a PC.

Downloading, however, is not available for all movies and TV shows, but only for select titles, and you can see them in a separate category within the app. All downloadable content is available in the section called Available for Download, as is the case with all non-Windows devices like iOS and Android.

The process of downloading a movie works exactly like you'd expect, so you just need to click a small download button displayed on the video page and then have the file stored locally. You can then view downloaded content in a special category called My Downloads.

Obviously, getting the latest version of the Netflix app is mandatory to get offline viewing and download support, with an official changelog or announcement expected to be published soon.

The Netflix app in the Windows Store can be downloaded not only on PCs but also on smartphones running Windows 10 Mobile, so go ahead and get the latest version to enjoy offline viewing on Windows too.
