Windows Insider chief says new build is being tested

Microsoft was expected to release a new Windows 10 build for insiders sometime this week and now Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, says that “a new build is being hustled” as we speak.

This means that the release could take place sometime very soon, most likely today or tomorrow, as the company doesn’t usually ship new builds on Fridays (although it did happen several times in the past) or on weekends.

Information on what could be changed in this new build is not yet available, but we expect it to be released to those who are enrolled in the fast ring of the Insider program. The upcoming build will be part of the RS2 branch and will certainly be aimed at both PCs and mobile devices.

Microsoft was originally expected to publish an RS2 build last week, but due to some internal upgrades that were performed on the company’s systems used to flight new builds, the release was delayed until this week. Specifics on the launch date are never provided, as the Windows Insider program is an ongoing effort and bugs can always be spotted at the last minute and force the company to hold back the release.

For the moment, all we have to do is wait and, with a little luck, the new build can be published later today if no major bugs are discovered.
