Simple but super effective app for Windows 10 users

If you’re a long-time Windows 10 user, you probably noticed that every time Microsoft ships a major update, the operating system automatically resets default apps, so you end up having Edge the default browser, Mail as email client, and so on.

It goes without saying that having to reconfigure all your default apps every time is pretty annoying, so an app that can prevent this from happening certainly comes in handy.

Meet the intuitively-called “Stop Resetting My Apps,” a Windows 10 application that does exactly what its name suggests: it blocks the operating system from resetting default apps with new updates.

Fortunately, using this little tool is quite a breeze, as everything comes down to a single screen that lets you control which apps to block and which to allow. You can prevent certain apps from being configured as default, such as Edge, Mail, Photos, and Groove Music, and you can change your mind at a later time whenever you want.

There are no options, and you don’t even need any, as the app has just a single purpose and it serves it very well. An administrator account is needed to make changes, though.

Microsoft has also promised to stop doing this in the future, most likely with the Creators Update, but for the moment, “Stop Resetting My Apps” is the easiest way to prevent changes to default apps, so give it a shot to see what it’s up to.
