If you’re an Apple enthusiast, you probably followed all the rumors regarding the company’s new 4-inch iPhone which was launched yesterday as iPhone SE.

But ever since the first rumors pointing to a smaller iPhone reached the web, the device was called in several ways, including iPhone 5 SE, iPhone 6c, or even iPhone 7c.

And now that the device is here, it turns out that the iPhone SE rumor was the only one accurate, but does everyone know what SE actually stands for? Unsurprisingly, everyone online started mocking the SE abbreviation, so Apple needed to provide the official version and explain what the name actually stands for.

So rest assured, iPhone fans, because the SE doesn’t stand for sorry everyone, second edition, super expensive, or something, but for… “special edition.” Apple’s Phil Schiller confirmed that this is the choice that makes more sense, as the iPhone SE looks very similar to the iPhone 5s and comes with a screen of the same size.

With the iPhone SE, Apple’s trying to target customers still using an older iPhone and who want to upgrade to new hardware and software without going for a bigger device. The company has high expectations when it comes to sales, but analysts believe that only 12 million units would be sold this year, as demand for 4-inch devices has decreased.
