The beta program of WhatsApp for Windows Phone provides us with an early glimpse into what the company is working on for Microsoft users, and the latest version indicates that an easier way to share photos with your contacts could soon be provided.

Plaffo writes that WhatsApp for Windows Phone beta version 2.16.208 introduces a new camera button in the bottom bar of the chat list that allows you to quickly take a photo and then share it with a contact. This makes the photo sharing process faster because you no longer have to open a conversation and take the pic with the camera.

WhatsApp for Windows Phone keeps getting updates on a regular basis, so the next public release could bring plenty of improvements for users of Microsoft’s mobile platform.

More recently, it has been discovered that the beta version of WhatsApp received support for OneDrive, which makes it possible for Windows Phone users to back up conversations in Microsoft’s cloud-based storage service. This feature also exists on iOS and Android, but the difference is that each platform works with its native cloud service, namely iCloud and Google Drive, respectively.

For the moment, it’s not yet known when a new public version of WhatsApp would be released for Windows Phone users with all these improvements, but it shouldn’t take too long before this happens given that so many features seem to be ready for retail users already.
