New Windows 10 build likely to go live very soon

Microsoft is expected to introduce a new Windows 10 build in the coming days, most likely today (November 3, for readers in different time zones), and there’s a good chance that 14960 is the one.

A screenshot submitted to us by @NecrosoftCore shows that Windows 10 build 14960 is already being tested internally and with a little luck, it could get the go-ahead as soon as today for insiders enrolled in the fast ring on both desktops and smartphones.

Of course, it’s just too early to discuss about changes that could be released as part of this build, but expect small improvements here and there, as well as a plethora of bug fixes and improvements on both platforms.

Build 14960 is a preview for the Windows 10 Creators Update due in early 2017, as Microsoft itself confirmed, and which will bring a long series of improvements to desktops and smartphones, including favorite contacts on the taskbar, a redesign of Windows Defender, revised Action Center, and so much more.

The Creators Update will obviously be released free of charge to users of Windows 10, and chances are it’ll go live in March next year. People with knowledge of the matter said it could be version 1703, which is a direct hint at the release date, as the first two numbers represent the year and the other two stand for the month.

UPDATE: It's not 14960, but 14959. You can find out more about this new build here.

Thanks for the tip, @NecrosoftCore!
