User concept imagines Facebook Messenger with NEON treatment

There’s no doubt that Project NEON is one very anticipated OS overhaul, mostly because it’ll bring new visual improvements, effects, and animations on Windows 10, so it’s no surprise that users across the world try to create concepts imagining what the whole thing could look like.

This is the case of the concept you see here and which is supposed to envision the Facebook Messenger app in Windows 10 when Project NEON becomes widely available.

As you can see, the concept embraces some of the design features that were said to be part of Project NEON, including blue and transparency effects, but at the same time, it also makes the app look a lot like it’s running on macOS.

And that’s not necessarily a bad thing, as Mac OS X has often been considered an eye-candy operating system, but it goes without saying that Windows 10 needs to have its own identity and apps must follow this design language.

For what it’s worth, Project NEON is expected to become available in Windows 10 starting with the first Redstone 3 preview builds landing in the summer, while retail users should get it in the fall when this new OS release goes live. Insiders will be the first to see how Project NEON improves the UI of Microsoft’s apps in the preview builds of Windows 10 Redstone 3 to be released in the coming months.
