New cumulative update for Windows 10 Mobile released

Microsoft has rolled out Windows 10 cumulative update 10586.456 for PCs earlier today, and now it seems like the same version is available for devices running Windows 10 Mobile as well.

As was the case of the PC update, there are no release notes available for this new mobile update, but don’t expect anything else than performance improvements and bug fixes, as new features are rarely included in this kind of releases.

What’s very important to mention is that this cumulative update isn’t shipped to all devices running Windows 10 Mobile, but only to those that are enrolled in the release preview ring that is part of the Windows Insider program. So unless you registered to receive early builds of Windows 10, you won’t get this update, as Microsoft just wants to test it before rolling it to everyone in the coming weeks, most likely on Patch Tuesday on July 12.

This is also the day when Microsoft is expected to provide a change log for the update, so we’ll update the article when such information becomes available.

On the other hand, Windows 10 Mobile devices are set to receive the Anniversary Update on August 2 if they are compatible with Redstone builds. Microsoft has decided to leave some phones behind and only allow them to run 10586 versions of Windows 10 Mobile, so only part of its device lineup will get the Anniversary Update in early August.
