Simple way to extend the Start screen imagined

The Start screen is without a doubt one of the best features of Windows phones, mostly thanks to live tiles, but at the same time, there still are ways to improve it and offer new functionality that would certainly come in handy to some users.

One such way is being imagined by DeviantArt user bannax1994 in a concept created in late 2016 and based on the existing Start available on Windows 10 Mobile devices.

Specifically, the designer tried to envision a new way to switch from the Start screen with live tiles to the other apps available on your Windows phone.

Instead of swiping left to access the list of apps installed on the device, you can simply swipe down, so basically this list of apps becomes an extension to Start.

This makes it feel more like the Start menu on desktops where the operating system displays the most used apps, suggestions, and then the entire list of apps. You can thus see all your apps without any additional click and the only thing you need to do is to scroll down to view the rest of available items.

At first glance, this certainly sounds like a good idea, although there is no doubt that it might be a bit difficult for Windows phone fans to adapt to the new system. And yet, Microsoft should have this in mind when looking for new ways to improve Windows phones because the more ideas it gets, the bigger the chances for the operating system to adapt to users’ requests.

Thanks for the tip!
