Piwigo Screen Saver

If you are using Piwigo as one of the tools to manage, organize and share your photos, then there is a chance that you may want to include some of the best pictures into your daily routine. One way you can do that is to include photos from your gallery in your screensaver.

Piwigo Screen Saver is a tool that provides you with a quick way to add random pictures from your galleries as screensavers.

The program doesn’t have your regular installation procedure and, at first, it appears to do nothing after you access the executable. To manage it, you need to right click on the said executable so that you can access configuration, installation and preview features.

Irrespective of whether you are using the Configuration or Install options, you are prompted to add your Piwigo credentials and URL in a dedicated Windows. Once the required data is filled, you should be able to view random photos from your gallery via the Test function. Take note that the Install Setting takes to the Screen Saver Settings window where you can make sure that the app is selected as the main source and configure additional things, such as the number of minutes required before displaying the screen saver.

Unfortunately, the program doesn’t let you choose which photos can be selected as screen savers. The developer states that the selection is made by the Piwigo Web API and it downloads the best quality version of the pictures once every 30 seconds.

If you happen to have a rather large gallery, then you may need to make sure that you have space. Moreover, if you have a limited/metered Internet connection, the app can consume all of it. On the plus side, Piwigo Screen Saver does scale the photo to match the configuration of your display and moves it around the screen until the next picture is retrieved.
