Autorun CD

Multimedia disks are usually equipped with an autorun feature or visually appealing menus for easy and clever navigation through content. Such features can easily be created by anyone, depending on whether or not the application used is well-organized. In this regard, Autorun CD lets you design a simple presentation for the content found on either a CD/DVD or USB Flash drive.

Right after the application is downloaded you can go ahead and launch it to get a general idea of what can be accomplished. The package contains a few files which in the end need to be copied to the target device. Effort on your behalf is minimum, because the visual design can't be modified.

Don't expect a great deal of variety or customization, with running the application only being an example of the end result. A compact window pops up, with a large text panel that displays the description of your CD/DVD, over which you have full control, as well as a button to explore the content.

The creation process is simple and can be completed in a matter of seconds. All you need to do is replace the Readme file in the target directory with one that contains what you want to be displayed. Since it's a plain text file, don't even think about trying to modify anything about text formatting.

Needless to say that there's no possibility to add images or even customize the visual layout, or at least the background color. Even if the process of adding your custom content and publishing it on a CD/DVD or USB Flash drive only takes a matter of seconds, you're limited to text that can't even be displayed in a different color, size or font.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Autorun CD leaves a lot more to be desired and only serves as a basic way of describing the content of your media disks through plain text. The result makes you feel the effort is in vain, with poor visuals packed in the menu and no way to modify anything but text. Alternatives are abundant in number and features, so it's best you look elsewhere.
