BurnOut

BurnOut is a software tool designed specifically to aid people in pinpointing the type of protections used on a CD or DVD, with a minimum amount of effort.

You are not required to go through the installation process, as this application is portable. As a result, you should know that the Windows registry and Start menu/screen are not going to be affected in any way, and no leftovers will remain after its removal from the drive.

It is also possible to take BurnOut anywhere with you and run it on any PC you have been granted access to, if you simply copy the program files to a USB thumb drive and clicking the EXE.

This utility enables you to scan a selected DVD or CD in order to detect the type of protection it uses, while it also supports EXE, DLL and DAT file extensions. You can also use an advanced scan, enable the BurnOut to scan files bigger than 20 MB and change the language, with just a click of the button.

The program supports quite an array of protections (e.g. 3Plock, ActiveMARK, Bitpool, Code Lock, SafeLock etc.) and you can find a list with all of them in the program files.

To conclude, BurnOut is a pretty simple, yet efficient piece of software, for those interested in finding out what copy protection is used on a particular CD, DVD or executable file. It does not put a strain on the computer’s performance, tasks are performed in a pretty good time and the interface is user-friendly. Nevertheless, you should know that sometimes the app stops responding.
