Sog DVD Ripper Platinum

Sog DVD Ripper Platinum is a program that lets you convert your DVDs to other media formats, such as AVI, MP4, MPEG, WMV, FLV and MP3.

If you are using Windows 7, then make sure to run Sog DVD Ripper Platinum with administrative rights. Otherwise, it will pop up several errors during runtime.

The interface of the tool is plain and intuitive. You can open a DVD by using the file browser only, since the "drag and drop" method is not supported.

In the list you can check out the title information, video and audio subtitle duration, along with output name and extension of the DVD. After specifying the destination folder and output profile, you can start the encoding process.

You can select the audio and subtitle stream, convert a portion of the DVD by marking the start and end time, as well as modify audio and video properties when it comes to the quality, sample frequency rate, frame rate, volume, aspect ratio, and others.

In the "Option" area you specify the default audio and subtitle language along with output folder, as well as edit output profiles. During the conversion process, you can check out the current title, destination name, start and stop time, duration, current time and frame, along with the frames per second and current frame.

The DVD encoding software needs moderate system resources and takes a reasonable amount of time to complete a task while keeping a very good image and sound quality. We haven't come across any issues during our tests. On the other hand, you cannot select individual chapters for processing or preview the DVD and take snapshots.

The latter options are not available and we can't tell if this is a bug or a limitation of the unregistered version. Plus, a help file would we welcomed by novices who can't figure our how this application works. Even so, we strongly recommend Sog DVD Ripper Platinum to all users.
