Xilisoft DVD Subtitle Ripper

Foreign movies are coming out by the hundreds each year. However, not all of them are accessible to everyone, due to the language barrier. That is where subtitles can come in handy, and programs that can extract the subtitles from DVDs even handier. One such app is Xilisoft DVD Subtitle Ripper, and it promises, among other things, to efficiently extract the subtitles of any movie DVD out there.

As far as looks go, Xilisoft DVD Subtitle Ripper doesn't bring anything new to the table, except for an efficient looking, minimalist UI that is pretty much self-explanatory enough to make the Help documentation useless. All you need is insert a DVD into your optical drive, select the output format for the subtitles, and then wait while the ripping process is commencing.

The most popular movies out there probably come with more than just one subtitle language, so choosing the appropriate one to rip can be a bit of a challenge to most other similar apps, but not this one. This tool lets you select from the multitude of available subtitle languages, along with several other settings, such as the framerate, whether or not you want to split it, where you want to save it, under what name and much more.

During our testing, no problems seem to be encountered while using this app. While the subtitles were being ripped, there was no significant consumption of system resources, aside from the ones allocated with scanning and reading off the DVD, which would have been there by default anyway. More so, the ripping process took little to no time at all, with testing leading to the conclusion that the only variable that affects this duration being the length of the movie (and therefore the amount of subtitle text available)

Xilisoft DVD Subtitle Ripper manages to do its job impeccably, and the fact that it also gets it done fast and without any problems making it an excellent addition to any foreign movie aficionados out there.
