BreeZip

BreeZip is a lightweight file archiver that comes as an alternative to the popular WinRAR, WinZip and 7-zip. While it does the same things as its competition, having multiple versions of the same service is always a good sign for the market.

BreeZip’s UI has a similar structure to the aforementioned programs, but it sticks out through its colors and icon design.

The toolbar is limited to three options that let you archive, extract and delete files. There is also a dedicated menu for settings, but upon accessing it, you’ll find a single option that asks you if you want to send anonymous data to the developer, or not. In short, the settings menu is kind of useless in its current state.

BreeZip can be used to open and view the contents of an archive or to decompress items saved as RAR, ZIP, 7Z, GZIP, TAR. BZIP2 and more. When creating an archive, you can opt to add a password to it to make it more secure against prying eyes. Check the “with password” box to set up a combination and move along with the compression.

Unlike Winrar, BreeZip does not create shortcuts in your context menu. This means that quick actions cannot be executed, as you have to rely on the interface for anything you do with BreeZip.

In conclusion, BreeZip is a decent app that can help you take care of your compression/archiving needs, without requiring too much knowledge in order to do so. It does, however, lack a richer options menu and also the context-menu entry, which would greatly improve the overall process by saving some time.
