It can be rather difficult to get up in the morning, but there’s also the alarm you can count on. What’s more, an alarm can also help remind you of specific tasks which need to be done, or particular events to attend to. Regardless of purpose, AlarmClock comes with the means to help alert you with both audio, and visual feedback.

It’s best to check whether or not .NET Framework is installed on your computer before taking the application for a spin, even though it’s a default feature in modern Windows iterations. On launch it directly minimizes to the tray area, with no prompt to let you know it’s there.

There’s no alarm configured by default, so the first thing to do is to bring up the main window and choose to set up an alarm. You can only configure one alarm, and it needs to go off at a specific time you specify in hours, and minutes for a 12 hour clock. A message can be included so a popup window also shows up.

Not a lot of customization options are at your disposal, but there are a few things you can tweak from the preferences menu. On the one hand, the alarm can be set to simply chime, show a message, or both. You can choose a custom audio file to play. Moreover, the LED display color is enhanced by picking a different tint from the default palette.

However, just specifying the alarm time isn’t enough, and you need to be sure it’s turned on if you don’t want to miss it. To have it ready by the time you reach the desktop, there’s a dedicated option which forces it to run with Windows.

All things considered, we can safely state that AlarmClock is a lightweight, easy to use application to help you get up in the morning, or remind you of important events while you’re using the PC. You can only set one alarm at a time though, but it can show up on the desktop with a custom message, and audio alert.
