Have a cool countdown timer on your desktop to constantly remind you of an upcoming event, with options to move it around, make it transparent, and add more timers for other events #Event Counter #Time Counter #Countdown Time #Countdown #Countdowner #Timer
It’s a shame not to take advantage of all the computer can do for you, especially if most of the times your eyes are glued to the screen. Sure enough, we’re talking about activities that matter, but they can be as simple as setting up alarms or reminders for events, just like Event Countdown does, to help you where your memory can’t entirely.
A neat advantage is you don’t even need to go through a setup process to make the application work, so it’s possible to take it with you on a removable storage device to use wherever needed. Another consequence of portability is that it does not depend on any of the system registries, leaving them intact, during, and after use.
The application doesn’t want to bother you with notifications, but also make sure you don’t forget about a specific event, and it does so in a subtle way. Enabling it places a countdown timer on your desktop, which you can drag around, or simply bind to the right side of the screen. Look carefully though, because text is rather small and difficult to identify on a crowded desktop.
Most of the time, the application quietly sits in the tray area so it doesn’t bother you with anything else besides the desktop counter. From there, you can bring up the settings panel in order to set up an important event. Only the name can be added, and it would have been useful to also write more details or comments.
Unfortunately, you can’t actually use the application for events happening in the same day, because you only get to set a date, and if it’s the same day, the alert instantly triggers. What’s more, you can’t adjust the desktop timer except for opacity. In case you’re interested in more events, it’s only possible by running multiple instances of the application.
All things considered, we come to the conclusion that Event Countdown comes with good intentions, but only helps on the long run, for events that don’t really depend on a specific hour of the day. Even though customization options are shallow or missing, it can still come in handy, especially because of the subtle desktop countdown timer.
