Shutdown Timer

Shutdown Timer is a simple application written in Java, which gives you the possibility to configure a power management option for your computer. It can be scheduled to shut down or sleep at any specified time.

The program's packed in a single .exe file that can be saved anywhere on the disk or copied to a USB flash drive, in order to seamlessly launch it on any PC with as little effort as possible.

It doesn't create new files on the disk without your permission or add new entries to the system registry. Just keep in mind that Java must be installed, otherwise it won't run.

As far as the interface is concerned, Shutdown Timer opts for a small window with a simple design and layout, where you can establish the countdown timer in days, hours, minutes and seconds by entering the numbers or clicking on two arrow buttons to increase or decrease these values.

The power option can be selected between sleep and shutdown. Moreover, it's possible to pause and resume the timer. The tool creates an icon in the system tray at startup and gets sent there on minimization to become minimally invasive and silently count down time while letting you carry on with your normal PC activity without any interruptions. It provides quick access to its control panel.

It didn't put a strain on the machine's performance in our tests, running on a low amount of CPU and RAM. No error dialogs popped up and it didn't freeze or crash. Although it hasn't received updates for a long time, we haven't experienced compatibility issues with newer Windows models.

To sum it up, Shutdown Timer facilitates a user-friendly solution to help you schedule your machine to sleep or turn off according to a countdown timer. It doesn't have rich features, but it's straightforward and easy to handle.
