Windows puts some of the most common tools at your disposal, so you don’t have to search the web for every little thing you need. For instance, the clock has always been in the tray area, and there are also ways to customize it through various third-party components, which is the case with Nerium.

A good thing about it is that it saves you the time and effort required to install it, so you can even carry it around on a thumb drive in case you want to use it on other computers as well. Running it applies the new clock directly, with the default one being replaced. Note that it doesn’t run with Windows, so for this to happen, you need to manually add a shortcut inside the system startup folder.

Default time settings are left intact on launch, but it doesn’t mean you can’t change them. This is easily done from the preferences panel which you access through the right-click menu. Here, you find the options to update the local time, but also to synchronize it with one of several servers. Needless to say that this requires an active Internet connection.

Apart from telling time, the application also aims to look cool in your environment. There’s a default skin to choose, but you can also go ahead and create your own. Note, however, that this can take a bit of time, but you can use the default one to get the idea.

Creating a custom skin requires two things, namely a BMP file to serve as the background image, as well as an INI file. Little effort is required for the INI file, which is fitted with settings for text color, font, and size, as well as image info. The two files need to be in the same folder.

All things considered, we can state that Nerium wants to serve as a neat way to customize the style of your system clock. Sure enough, it provides a default skin to get you running, but it could have used a bit more samples, because creating your own skin can take a bit of time.
