Some devices hooked up to your computer, or even specific components and features automatically turn off when idle, in order to save power, which is extremely handy when working on a laptop, but can become frustrating to constantly turn back on. In case there’s no option to prevent idle or automatic shutdown, in this situation for wireless speakers, Periodic Beeper can help keep them alive.
Before you go off checking the application’s set of features, it’s best to make sure that .NET Framework is installed on your computer. At launch, the application goes directly to the tray area, with no alert to let you know it’s there, so you should look for a new icon if you consider nothing happens when it runs.
The application was designed in order to automatically play a specific frequency so that your computer looks busy to your wireless headphones receiver, so they don’t get turned off. Although this affects battery life, it can make sure you are always connected and don’t lose any important audio feedback because of automatic shutdown.
By default, the application is set to play a frequency you don’t hear, so it doesn’t interfere with anything, or scare you every now and then. The tray icon is where all options are, and you need to manually start the whole process. There’s an additional option to instantly play the specific frequency, so you get an idea whether or not it needs tuning.
The application can also be used as a reminder tool, with repetitive beeps to let you know something important is about to happen. The settings menu lets you configure interval from a couple of seconds up to an hour, as well as duration. Two more sliders let you configure frequency, as well as amplitude, to customize the tune.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Periodic Beeper does exactly what the name suggests, with a few extra options so you can decide how frequent and long beeps need to be, as well as how it needs to sound like. It can either be used to prevent wireless headphones from going offline, or to remind you of upcoming events.
