There’s the same amount of time available every day to you, but activities just seem to pile up more and more. Luckily, a bit of management can increase productivity, and even make room for some leisure time by the end of the day. In this regard, you can use specialized applications like Timeboss to keep track of your activities.

With no installation involved, you can go ahead and take the application for a spin as soon as download is done. This automatically means you can carry it around on a thumb drive, which is neat because you’re able to track all your activities this way. The only thing you need to make sure is for the target PC to be fitted with Java Runtime Environment.

There’s little to no initial configuration, because the application aims to track your progress as you work. However, you do need to fill in a task form once in a while so you sequentially add time spend, and notes. This panel is brought up automatically after a given amount of time you can specify in minutes.

The default interval is 15 minutes and can be changed to what you consider it takes to finish the task at hand. With the info panel up, you can specify the elapsed time, and the remaining time starting from the current moment. Other fields let you write activity and project titles, issues, and description.

The application quietly sits in the tray area while you’re working. When the time runs out, you can either take another round, or have the info panel brought up from the timer prompt. When all tasks are done, you can export a log of events, but be sure to manually write down the desired extension so the file becomes readable.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Timeboss might not be a complex schedule manager, but it helps you track tasks you’re working on in a simple manner. You mostly need to write down what you’re doing and how long it takes, with results delivered in a neat report when requested.
