A neat advantage of this application is that there’s no need to install it on your computer, thus having the possibility to carry it around on a USB flash drive to use on other computers as well. This also means that system registries remain intact, and so manages to do no harm to the PC you use it on.

In case there’s something important you’re working on that requires an active Internet connection, it’s best to save all work. This is because the application automatically starts a countdown timer on launch, and by the time you realize what functions do, you might end up being shoved off the information superhighway.

Apart from the large countdown timer that takes up the majority of the interface, there’s an additional info field that lets you know whether or not the Internet is working. Moreover, there are two control buttons you can use to manually cut off the connection, and bring it back up. If you consider you want more time, you can always hit the reset button.

There’s also a set of preferences which you can manage in a dedicated panel, with the countdown timer still running in the meantime. It gives you the possibility to set the maximum allowed hours online per day, but sadly, there’s no option to make it automatically start with Windows.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that mTime Usage Timer comes with good intentions, but doesn’t exactly deliver what you’d expect to find. However, it feels a little rough around the edges, with the timer not giving you a chance to first get acquainted with the set of features, which is pretty shallow too, with not even an option to make it run on startup.
