A different type of alarm clock you can use to schedule application startups as well as shutdown, restart, or logoff events at a specified time. #Schedule event #Shutdown scheduler #Schedule restart #Scheduler #Event #Shutdown
There are only so many hours each day to fulfill some of the tasks at hand, case in which time management becomes a pretty important activity. This doesn’t necessarily have to imply complex activities, and can be something as simple as an automated shutdown of the computer. For instance, Scheduler can even help launch programs for you at a given moment.
A cool thing about it is that it doesn’t take you through the steps of an installer to make its features available, so you can test its capabilities from the moment download is done. More than that, it’s a suitable tool to carry around on a USB flash drive in case you want or need to use it on the go, without affecting stability on the target computer.
The application isn’t your regular alarm clock though, and it specializes itself in a couple of methods. One of them is a run command, while the other is a shutdown tool. It comes with a set of predefined values for both timer types to help you understand how things go. Both come with individual timer configuration slots.
Configuring the time value isn’t a difficult thing, and only requires you to set hour and minutes in a 12 hour clock type. In order to configure the run command alarm, you need to manually provide the program path and executable, or a URL in case you want to launch a specific page. Sadly, there’s no browse dialog for an easier selection.
As for the shutdown alarm, this one is configured a lot easier, because you only get to select from three options, namely shutdown, restart, and logoff. Note that both alarms are active by default, but you can choose to disable shutdown and restart so you don’t suddenly end up with data loss.
All things considered, Scheduler comes with good intentions, but it’s missing an important type of alert, namely a simple alarm clock. Setting up the run command can be quite a hassle, while the shutdown alarm is left the reliable solution.
