Every so-called box is, in fact, a small transparent window that stores icons inside it. In other words, boxes are like drawers displayed on your desktop which include shortcuts and links to your folders and files. You can roll up a box to only see its name and practically hide its contents. A closed box is like a closed drawer: you only see a tag; to see the icons again, you must open the box. Moreover, even the titles can be hidden if you want to and displayed only on mouseover.

Boxes can include several icons, which you can easily sort by name, file size and timestamp. Another interesting sorting criterion is the usage frequency, pretty much the most useful one.

Another feature worth mentioning is related to the organization rules you can set in iTop Easy Desktop. To be more specific, new icons of a certain type that are created on the desktop can be automatically placed in a specific box.
