Brightness Wheel

As the name suggests, Brightness Wheel is an application that makes it possible to manually adjust the screen brightness using the mouse wheel. With its help, brightness control becomes easier, since you don’t have to use the native Settings app in Windows or the buttons on your keyboard, should they exist.

Brightness Wheel is easily installed in Windows and, after a straightforward setup process, the main window is displayed. Given its purpose, it’s no wonder that the application’s GUI is simple. The only thing you need to do is configure the situations when the screen’s brightness level can be controlled using the mouse wheel.   To be more specific, the mouse wheel can become the brightness controller when a certain key is pressed. CTRL, ALT, SHIFT or combinations of these three are available in the drop-down list. Moreover, the application enables you to set your own key combination to toggle it active.

Another way to control the brightness with the mouse wheel is when the cursor of the mouse is placed at specific positions on the Windows monitor. Brightness Wheel can toggle itself active when the cursor is at any of the edges of the screen or just at the top and bottom or the left and the right edges. The corners of the desktop can also be a triggering point. Other options that you can select are when the mouse pointer is placed above the taskbar or over the title bar.

For each of these, you can configure Brightness Wheel to automatically adjust the brightness to a certain level, also available as a selection from a drop-down list.

Brightness Wheel can turn the mouse wheel into a controller for the screen’s brightness. Once started, it silently runs in the system tray, so as not to interfere with your work, but it keeps the trigger points active for you to be able to control the screen’s brightness easier with the mouse wheel.
