Waving the US flag on your front porch is all well and good, but what about when you’re feeling patriotic while using your PC? You might hang a few flags around your monitor, but your desktop is probably dangerously un-American.

DeskFlag is a relatively simple application for lovers of the red, white and blue. It displays a small US flag in the bottom-right corner of the desktop, right above the taskbar. It offers some basic customization options and is very easy to use.

The application is quite easy to set up. Once launched, you will see the flag in the notification area, along with a tray icon that can be used to manage the utility. The flag cannot be moved, unfortunately, but it is relatively unobtrusive.

The flag can either be displayed on your desktop, behind other applications or on top of all other windows. If you never want it to be out of sight, no matter what you are doing, the latter option is probably for you.

To change the visibility of the flag quickly, you can also use a customizable hotkey. The default key combination is Ctrl+Shift+F, but you can change it to any other key you prefer.

What’s more, it is possible to increase or decrease the speed of the flag animation, as well as alter its transparency. It can be fully opaque or made almost completely translucent.

There isn’t much more to say about this program, aside from the fact that it seems to run very well even on Windows 10 despite not having been updated for quite some time.

For the Americans out there who want to have a US flag on their desktop but feel that a flag wallpaper is a bit too much, this application may be the perfect solution.
