Most applications and video games offer to deploy a shortcut on your desktop, since it's the place where you access elements of interest with little effort. The setup process ensures the application gets perfectly deployed on your computer, with the last step offering to launch it directly. An introductory document is brought up on first launch, and the application minimizes to the tray area. It stays there almost all the time, performing its core feature automatically.

In fact, there isn't even an associated window to work with, and all options and settings are accessed from the corresponding tray icon context menu. When the application is launched the icon layout on the desktop is recorded, and is the default one you're returned to in case any changes are detected during runtime.

The application automatically checks for any changes which can be caused by various activities, such as resolution change, explorer crash, changing video device, or other. By default, the programs checks the desktop configuration once every 20 minutes. You can adjust this poll value to either 5, 60, or 360 minutes.

More than that, the application can be set to poll on startup and shutdown only so the workspace isn't messed up if you're testing something or experimenting with new layouts. Profiles can be created, each remembering a specific desktop layout, with the possibility to instantly switch to a new one from the tray icon menu.
