When working on a dual-monitor system, there might be times when you are simply looking for the mouse cursor on either the first or the second screen and start clicking the mouse to see a response. Thus, you might perform various actions unintentionally, which are the exact situations that Dual Monitor Auto Mouse Lock is designed to avoid.
The Dual Monitor Auto Mouse Lock tool or, in short, DMAML, is perfect for situations when you must work with multiple applications on machines equipped with a secondary monitor. What this software utility does is lock the mouse cursor to the screen that runs an application in full screen mode.
Dual Monitor Auto Mouse Lock runs in the system tray, without interfering with your work and daily routine. You should take the time to configure it before using it, as it is a one-time operation. The application can easily identify the connected monitors and allows you to set the default screen. By default, Dual Monitor Auto Mouse Lock is configured to automatically lock the mouse cursor on any screen that runs an application in full screen and unlock the cursor when a non-full-screen window is brought in the foreground. However, you can set exceptions and choose apps that are excluded from this course of action.
Going through the Settings window helps you change its default behavior. The application shows either a round, a square or a square with a border icon in the system tray. There is a color code to show the application’s status and you can read all about it in the settings. If the icon is red, then the mouse cursor is locked, while green shows it is unlocked. If the app is paused, the icon is magenta or blue.
Aside from the graphic icon indicator, Dual Monitor Auto Mouse Lock also features sound notifications for status change. By default, this feature is disabled, but you can configure it in the settings as well. The state of Dual Monitor Auto Mouse Lock can be easily changed using hotkeys.
Dual Monitor Auto Mouse Lock can easily lock the mouse cursor when running an application in full screen mode to avoid unintended actions on the secondary monitor. You can easily exclude apps from under its action, but it might be useful to have it around on a dual-monitor system.
