FrameDummy

FrameDummy is a simple-to-use software application that enables you to simulate the window of a program, in order to pull pranks on your friends by making them open programs and websites without knowing. It offers simple customization options when it comes to its frame and contents.

The installation procedure is a fast and easy job that shouldn't give you any trouble. By default, the utility shows an empty, see-through frame that stays on top of other windows.

It's possible to edit its title, adjust the frame's opacity level, show or hide a control box, minimization and maximization buttons, disable topmost mode, as well as to show an icon and make the window accessible from the taskbar. An icon image cam be loaded from ICO, BMP, JPEG, GIF, TIFF or PNG file.

When it comes to the window content, you can load a photo from file (same supported formats), enable auto-size or set it to normal, stretch, center or zoom, as well as personalize the background color and make it random or transparent.

In order to switch to prank mode, you can enter the path of a program to launch or URL to visit on window click. The settings can be visible or hidden on right-click or when triggering the Ctrl+S hotkey. Plus, you can restrict the user from exiting the window on close.

As we expected, the tool didn't put a strain on the overall performance of the computer in our tests, running on low CPU and RAM. No error dialogs were displayed, and it didn't hang or crash.

FrameDummy may not be the most advanced application out there, but it offers a fun way to mimic a real window for pulling pranks on your friends by making them launch programs or visit websites.
