Now that most computers are connected to the Internet, and most important services run online, there are countless offline tools with which to accomplish even small tasks. For instance, Neutron is the type of app with which to keep your clock synchronized with the latest servers, depending on the time zone of interest.

First of all, the application doesn’t require setup, which means you can see what it’s all about from the moment download is done. It’s possible to have it stored on a thumb drive in case you want to use it on other computers. Registry entries are not affected in the process, so the health status of the target PC remains intact.

As far as the visual style is concerned, the whole layout is pretty straightforward, with classic window elements used in the design. System time is detected right from the start and shown in a dedicated field, including the date. A second field is used to specify the time server of interest, case in which an Internet connection is required.

Expanding the window gives you access to a server selection drop-down menu and several options. As such, you can choose to automatically try the next server on failure, automatically synchronize time on program startup, and whether or not to close the application when time is synchronized.

On the bright side of things, the application comes with an impressive preset list time servers to choose from, thus saving you some trouble. However, you can go ahead and look up other servers online and manually input your own server.

Bottom line is that Neutron might look like a dull method of synchronizing your computer time, but it surely manages to get the job done. There’s an impressive list of available servers to use, but you can also input your own choice, making it worth your while overall.
