WindowBox

Working on a single monitor might have its shortcomings, especially when you have to manipulate multiple windows. There are some Windows built-in features, such as the Snap feature to help make work more comfortable, but it's hardly enough. Luckily, you can rely on specialized applications like WindowBox to get the job done.

The setup process is quick and uneventful, with the possibility to have the application launched as soon as the installer closes. When this is done, a tray icon is created to quickly access the application's set of features, and a window shows up where you get to organize and sort all target windows.

Note that the application isn't your average window arranger, and you might end up scratching your head for a while until you get the hang of things, but this doesn't take a lot of time. The application's window is also fitted with a marker which you can position anywhere on the screen and defines the hold area of target windows.

In order to add a window you need to use the application's browse dialog. An interface similar to the task switcher panel shows up, and a single click is enough. One this is done, the corresponding window icon is added to the list, and the window is resized to fit the location defined by the marker. Adding more windows resizes them automatically to fit in that space. You can adjust the marker at any given moment.

The application is set to run with Windows by default. There are some options you can adjust. Sadly, there's no hotkey support to quickly toggle the visibility of the window. What's more, clicking an icon in the list minimizes the corresponding window. The options panel is used to set size and distance of windows held into position. Unfortunately, you can't run more instances of the application to create more groups.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that WindowBox manages to live up to expectations, letting you group multiple windows together in equally-sized parts, and move them together. The only downside is that you can only create one group, but this is enough to handle a whole bunch of windows.
