If you grew tired of searching for wallpapers for your PC, then using an extensive gallery with thousands of pictures might be an alternative to consider. wfwp is a tool that acts as a wallpaper switcher and that allows you to use Wikimedia Commons as your main source of photos.

While the tool doesn’t require installation, it is recommended that you place it into a folder before running as it creates settings and configuration files. For instance, after the first run, the app creates a small database with your preferred settings. This database is quite important as the pictures grabbed via the tool are selected based on the resolved.dat database. If the app didn’t generate the database, you should download it manually.

According to the developer, the program can detect the orientation and resolution of the monitor so that it can select suitable pictures. Then again, the tool is designed to assume that the aspect ratio of the monitors is set around 16:9. Consequently, the developer mentions that for landscape monitors the pictures will have a ratio between 4:3 and 256:81, whereas for portrait screens 256:81 and 3:4.

Considering that Wikimedia Commons comes with thousands of pictures, it is only natural that the tool comes with tools to help you narrow down your wallpaper selection. You can do so in two different ways, the first one being from the Exclusion tab in the Settings where you can check/uncheck the general theme of the pictures.

The second method is via the Blacklist option where you can add the image you don’t like with just one click. Rest assured, you can remove the blacklist easily from the same location and clear the entire list easily.

A nice touch with the tool is that it supports multiple monitors, so you can set up a different wallpaper for each of the screens in your configuration. Wfwp is an easy to use program that allows you to access and set numerous interesting pictures as your wallpaper.
