DimSaver

DimSaver is an alternative type of screensaver. Instead of having something pretty running on your monitor when it goes idle, this screensaver will dim the screen's light. This comes in handy in case you wish to still see what's going on your monitor, but without straining your eyes in the process. Usually, one might be able to find more than one purpose for such a tool, depending on the needs and wants.

Dimsaver has a compact dashboard split into four segments represented by tabs. The first set of options that meets the eye when the app is launched allows you to set up the screensaver's brightness during the day or night. You can choose the speed at which the screen should dim down or light up.

Moreover, you can determine the hours when the day ends and night starts. This is especially effective if you are changing time zones often.

After you're all set with the time schedule, you can start customizing your experience. Move to the Action to choose the method of quitting the screensaver. Three actions are available for this aspect: Mouse Moves, Mouse Clicks, and Keys. The actions are enabled by checkboxes, and you have the possibility to deploy all of them at once, or just one.

To be even more precise with disabling DimSaver, you can select only the Mouse Moves action and pair it with a mouse movement detector that can be set to any value. This allows you to avoid situations where a simple vibration or a slight movement will deactivate the screensaver against your wish.

The Image tab comes in handy if you plan to use an image before the dimming down starts. In case you want to add some humor to the process, or you simply prefer a visual cue for when the screensaver launches, you have the freedom to do it.

DimSaver is an intriguing screensaver, if we think about what screensavers usually do. This one focuses on dimming the light on your monitor or lighting it up, and that is only when the screensaver triggering settings are met. Despite being somewhat of an old tool, it works as it should, even on the latest OS version.
