Media Cleaner

Having media collections can be hard on your free time, as an increase in the volume of files, oftentimes also yields a direct increase in the time spent arranging, sorting, deleting, and organizing the said files. Short of using complex media handling suites, users are left with either manually managing their files through the Windows Explorer shell, or, resort to applications such as Media Cleaner, which provided all of the above, in a simple, no-brainer package.

The application sports a media player-type interface, whose main role is to preview the loaded files. A set of basic playback controls allow for that, but the experience is limited in terms of actual player capabilities.

When it comes to the file management part, things are quite simple. Adding the directory which contains your media is straightforward enough, and a minimalist view will allow one to easily browse through the added data. However, no other view types are supported.

When going past the main features, namely the media player and file management, and dwelling deeper into the actual functionality of the app, we must admit that its simplicity could be at least a bit detrimental, in some regards.

For instance, those users which might seek additional playback features will be left craving for more. And then there are the issues that might arise when loading significantly large volumes of files. As we found out, during testing, when loading a large number of files, the app would often freeze.

This application addresses those who seek an accessible means of handling their media collection, through a player that sports file management capabilities. Or, the other way around, a file manager that doubles as a player, depending on how you wish to look at things.
