While there are many ways you can transfer files from your computer to your smartphone, most of them are not practical. Sure, you can send an email to yourself, connect the devices via a cable or create a Whatsapp group. However, let’s face it, it’s messy and can take time.

NoCab Desktop is a tiny application that wants to change the way you are transferring files between your PC and mobile device.

The application is portable, so simply decompress the archive and grab the corresponding mobile app on your smartphone to get started. Unfortunately, the mobile app is only available for Android and there is no plan to add an iOS counterpart in the near future. A drawback would be that you can’t download the mobile app from Google Store and hence, you need to manually download and install it from GitHub repository.

Once you have both apps installed, then you can see them in the interface and you can proceed to transferring your data. The interface is split into two main sections, one that provides details about the paired mobile device and the other that shows information about the PC, network and Sender. From the Sender section, you can use the ‘Choose file’ feature to browse for the file you want to transfer. You will be happy to learn that the tool allows you to send several files at once.

It is worth mentioning that the transfer takes place directly between the two devices, so the privacy is ensured as there is no other third-party server involved. Speaking of security, you can configure the tool to communicate with the mobile counterpart via a given port. While you can change it, sometimes this may backfire and cause the app to malfunction.
