Nowadays, enjoying video games is not as simple as it used to be, especially with so many platforms out there offering their own titles and requiring you to create an account to enjoy them. In all fairness, the experience can be frustrating especially since you need to have multiple platforms as well as open and close each one every time you are in the mood to play something.

BoilR is a specialized tool that enables you to synchronize all your games into your Steam library. To put it simply, the tool can add games you have installed on your PC that are registered to other platforms and launchers into Steam along with their corresponding image art. The tool can also be configured to automatically download games from SteamGridDB.

Functionality-wise, the program allows you to import all games into Steam so that you don’t have to open other launchers or other apps. To achieve this, the utility relies on Steam third party shortcuts, so basically all you need to do is access the import games command.

Once you restart the Steam client, you should be able to view all the new games’ shortcuts. On a side note, for Steam Deck owners, the developer specifies that they need to mark it as executable under properties.

According to the developer, you don’t really need to configure BoilR at all to import your games. However, configuration is possible and you can find it in the config.toml file. As far as compatibility goes, the program should work well with platforms such as Epic Games Store, Itch.io, Origin, GOG, Uplay and Amazon Games. Some platforms are not available for Windows and more compatibility could be added in the future.
