Losing your progress in a game you’ve been playing for a while is an awful, awful feeling. Even if you’re just a few hours in and some bad luck befalls you to lose your saves, it’s a painful experience all the same. If you know, you know. And if you don’t, it’s still best to be precautious with these things.

If you’ve been looking for an app to help you back up your progress in Ghost Recon: Wildlands, GHOST Buster should sound enticing enough. It periodically creates backups while you play every few minutes and includes a restore tool to help you quickly switch between saves.

As stated above, losing your progress is not a good time. To help prevent any unwanted savegame loss or corruption events from happening, the app will automatically save your game every few minutes in a location of your choosing. This frequency can be changed by the end user to their needs: by default, it’s every 5 minutes.

A backup manager is also present, which lets you see all of the backup creation events from the most recent to the oldest ones. If something happens, or if you simply wish to go back to an earlier save, you can use the backup restore function in the Tasks menu to roll back progress.

If you’re experiencing difficulties in dealing with the official launcher’s cloud saving, you can freely enable or disable it via GHOST Buster. If you’re not using Ubisoft Connect for your version of Wildlands, then you’ll need to specify the game’s directory in the Settings menu.

As it is, I find GHOST Buster to strike a good balance between a functional and effective tool rather well, not least that it takes the weight of doing backups manually off your shoulders.
