HWSEdit

HWSEdit is the short form of Hammerwatch Save Editor. Right, so as you might have guessed, we're going ot talk about the 2013 hack-and-slash action adventure. This video game is interesting indeed, but like all quest type adventures, you're going to deal with a lot of collecting and RPG-like elements. For those users like myself without a lot of time and patience on their hands, this program will prove useful.

It's simple, the answer is general and upgrade-related details. If you're a beginner, as is my case, then you'll hang around the General tab. Thus, you can change the name and class of your character, add lives, decrease registered deaths, and play with health values, money, and mana. A potion can be selected to be associated with your character.

The program itself supports editing more than one player within the same system. Some modifiers can be added. You can have infinite lives, or double damage, or a certain level of mana regeneration percentage. Regardless of the situation, you decide how it all plays out.

The resulting files can also be saved as XML, for further editing. Once done, this program can also help you to transform any compatible XML file into HWS format. This allows for even more customization and gives the player full control over any character in their story.

HWSEdit is an interesting application and one of the best save game editors out there in terms of flexibility, offering functionality, and friendliness. I have used it a couple of times myself and feel that if you're looking to experience more of the story and less of the RPG-side of the game, this is the right start for you. Do make sure to create a backup save game, as there is always the risk of losing your progress when dealing with these apps.
