Half-Life Updated

When it launched in 1998, Valve’s critically acclaimed Half-Life title revolutionized the gaming industry with its focus on highly detailed NPC behavior and doing away with the well-known cutscene system by letting the events of the main story unfold in an interactive manner. The company also released the game’s source code and allowed passionate players to take the original assets and create their own custom levels and narratives, leading to incredible projects such as Counter-Strike, Team Fortress 2 and Sven Co-op.

A couple of decades later, a team of dedicated fans took it upon itself to modernize the game’s source code in a way that ensures compatibility with popular IDEs such as the 2019 and 2022 version of Microsoft’s Visual Studio, leading to the Half-Life Updated SDK.

Since the company has moved on to working on not only hardware projects but also the third iteration of their in-house game engine, the original SDK has ceased to receive significant updates, which is why the version at hand lets those who are actively developing mods submit feature requests and suggest bug fixes as soon as they encounter them to improve the overall code base and make the necessary changes that smooth out the structure, making for a nicer and more stable usage experience.
