In certain ways, gamers nowadays are incredibly lucky to have access to a vast array of titles from a multitude of genres, platforms and eras, thanks to highly documented emulators and well-maintained archives of games regarded as being “abandonware”.
Given the likelihood of not having tried the vast majority of video games released throughout the years, plenty of players prefer jumping from one experience to another. However, those who want to get more from a particular title can enrich the gameplay with mods the likes of LethalConfig.
In a time when many AAA studios chase the highest level of graphical fidelity at the expense of a bug-free experience with a balanced matchmaking system and coherent story-lines, indie titles such as Lethal Company prove that gameplay mechanics remain one of the most important aspects.
In an attempt to provide players with a continuously updated snapshot that can be directly influenced by their feedback, the developer released this game under the Early Access status and implemented support for third-party modifications that build upon the world that the title initialized.
One shortcoming that many of these mods have is the lack of an integrated GUI within the main menu to simplify the customization process. LethalConfig seeks to solve this issue by also centralizing every add-on installed into a unified interface that happens to follow the game’s design language.
Once installed, the app at hand attempts to detect the extensions present on the client-side and displays the configurable values in a user-friendly fashion. For instance, the MoreEmotes add-on can have the main trigger key and the buttons for performing quick taunts changed without quitting the game.
On top of the impressive automatic control generation capabilities, LethalConfig also includes a simple API for mod developers to make use of in order to include even more granular tweaking options in the add-on’s customization menu.
