When it comes to digital goods, preserving as many of the original functions as possible should be an objective taken into account by the service providers before halting future updates or shutting down their server connectivity once they move to a different product down the line.

The same must be applied to video games as well, whose “always-online” mandatory requirement hinders the ability of a portion of the original player-base to continue enjoying the gameplay mechanics of a free-to-play title that failed to become commercially viable via its in-game purchases.

Such is the case of Orcs Must Die! Unchained, a game that got de-listed from Steam in spite of its local gameplay capabilities. Luckily, in seeing the desire of many passionate fans to keep the project alive, the OMDU Single Player custom modification was born.

On top of patching the game files themselves to enable offline functionality, its game modes are now playable on any of the available maps, alongside an unlocked hero roster for more flexibility when laying out battle plans.

The program adds support for mods that take the sandbox experience further through mods that range from removing trap number restrictions and setting up indestructible barricades to enabling player invincibility for lengthening the playtime sessions.
