Enhance the bunny-hopping experience on Left 4 Dead 2 servers for speedrunning purposes with the help of this free and open-source plugin #Left4Dead 2 #Bunny-hopping speedrunning #Server plugin #Left4Dead2 #Bunny-hopping #Speedrunning
In time, the more advanced consumer-grade hardware gets, the more improvements the software side of various products receives, with one classic example being video games, whose developers never cease to make the most of the newest technologies in an attempt to provide players with the best possible experience given the available tool sets.
As a result, in order to raise the degree of realism and immersion when navigating through the zombie-infested levels of Left 4 Dead 2, Valve added a cool-down and camera-shaking effect to the player’s vision when jumping, which can be removed through the Server-side Auto Bunnyhop plugin.
After completing the main story multiple times, many players search for new ways to experience its campaign, and while a wide variety of custom levels are available when it comes to Valve games, some prefer to try their luck with speedrunning, a digital parkour-type of gameplay, where you use every resource available to get from the first to the last chapter in as little time as possible.
Starting off as a spin-off of the original Quake Engine, Valve’s GoldSource counterpart kept a movement mechanic known as bunny-hopping, in which the player jumps forward in a precise sequence to gain momentum while strafing and ultimately traverse through the environment at blazing fast speeds.
While the mechanic is present in Left 4 Dead 2 as well, the aforementioned camera-shaking effects hinder the potential behind carrying out a proper speedrun session, which is where the utility at hand comes into play. Thanks to its format as a Valve Server plugin, not only can the component be used without fear of being banned by the anti-cheat, but it can also be automatically loaded on a server set up by the player to remove the limitations and lagging-type effect when setting its dedicated “cl_autobunnyhop” command to 1 or 0 values for toggling its activation.
Whether you want to speedrun Left 4 Dead 2’s campaign using the bunny-hop mechanic, or you want to add an extra feature to your very own custom server for enhancing the co-operative gameplay with friends, the Server-side Auto Bunnyhop plugin may be the right tool for the job.
