Scan for games from other distribution platforms and add them to your Steam library in seconds, with this unobtrusive utility that runs in the system tray #Origin to Steam #Uplay to Steam #Add to Steam #Steam #Origin #Uplay
While several other digital distribution platforms have made their way to the gaming market, Steam is still the top dog. If most of your games are on Steam, it makes sense to want to add other titles to the same library, even if they are distributed via other platforms.
Steam Scanner is an open-source application that makes the process quite a bit easier. It runs in the system tray and scans for games from other platforms, then lets you add them to your Steam library with just a few mouse clicks.
Some of you probably know that you can do this without additional software, but this application was designed to simplify the process. It will scan for any games that can be added to Steam automatically, and then notify you when one is found.
If you decide to add a certain game to Steam, you only have to browse to its executable. After selecting it, the game will be added to your library and will be available after restarting Steam.
At present, Steam Scanner works with Origin and Uplay, and support for Battle.net has not been fully implemented. The developer plans to introduce support for GOG Galaxy, Microsoft Store and even the Twitch desktop application.
While the program seemed to work fine during our tests, there are likely some bugs that still need to be worked out. It may have problems recognizing certain games, and titles may sometimes be added multiple times.
On the whole, Steam Scanner can be very helpful for gamers who don’t want to switch between Steam, Origin, Uplay and other platforms constantly. It still needs some work, but it seems to do the job and lets you add all your games to your Steam library with very little effort.
