TellTale Widescreen Patcher

As is the case with many older titles, most TellTale games don’t offer support for ultrawide (21:9) monitors. While you can play them, you will see two black bars on the sides of the screen, essentially limiting your field of view to that of a 16:9 monitor.

TellTale Widescreen Patcher is a fairly simple, open-source program that can patch your game’s executable file to integrate full ultrawide support. It works with quite a few TellTale games and is very easy to use.

Before you get started, you might want to check out the list of tested titles on the project’s GitHub page. The developer has listed all the games that work without any issues, as well as those that still have some bugs.

Both the Steam and GOG versions of these games are supported. Steamless is integrated to help with removing DRM protection so that the patcher can work.

First and foremost, you need to launch the game and select your resolution. Next, quit the game, run the program, navigate to the executable file’s path and choose the preferred resolution from the drop-down list.

If an error message is displayed, the game is not supported. After patching the executable, the game should run on 21:9 displays without any issues, and you don’t need to run the patcher on every launch.

If you own a 21:9 monitor, you are probably used to dealing with black bars when playing older games. You can’t really expect the developers to add ultrawide support to titles that were released years ago, so it is great to see that third-party patchers are often available.
