This racing overlay app going by the name of Wheeler is indeed an intuitive attempt to help users streaming racing games through OBS avoid the complex camera setups when using wheels, pedals, and shifters. It manages to grab the input directly from your connected devices and display it as an overlay for your followers to see how driving should be done in various games.
It was created with games like DiRT in mind, where the driver has to use eye-hand coordination at just about every corner. This ultimately means that the app can track throttle and brake, steering wheel movement, shifting, and the clutch pedal if any. The overlay can be customized, but you'll have to go through the initial setup before that.
The app does also work with gamepads, but the whole point of using this particular overlay is to offer accurate data as to your response when driving a virtual vehicle. That being said, although supported, controllers won't offer an accurate image of your driving skills to the public. The program should also work with other types of games that involve vehicles. Simulators could also benefit from the same upgrade, avoiding the use of cams and gear that will ruin the experience for you before even starting it.
