Privacy-focused browser with a different take on interface design, that locally encrypts the user's personal data and browsing history. #Web Browser #Privacy Browser #Secure Browsing #Browser #Web #Privacy
Choosing the right browser is a process that requires some thoughtful consideration. Though the mainstream offerings do a good job in providing users with reliable, well-fitted solutions, they're not all the market has to offer. If you want something different, there's an entire selection of browsers to try, each with their own quirks and approaches.
If a bit of a different approach entices you, then you might want to consider BonBon Web Browser, a privacy-focused alternative that offers a distinct interface, where a strong emphasis is put on multitasking.
As stated before, the browser seeks to offer a different feel from your mainstream browser. This is manifested through the board-based design, where users can work with multiple tabs at once within a board. Think of boards as a bigger sibling to the traditional browser tabs, where users can have a contained space where they work on a specific project.
One could say that these boards aren't much different from the Containers on Firefox, and they wouldn't be wrong. Simply put, they help users achieve a higher degree of order, where working with numerous tabs at once becomes less of an issue.
While the browser provides a decent browsing experience, there's still some ironing out to do. To navigate to a link through the address bar, typing just the domain name won't do: you'll have to include the HTTP/S protocol to access a website.
The lack of a snap to grid function when organizing the tabs from a board leads to a rather unintuitive process, as users will have to resize and fit the tabs manually, wasting time in the process. In the same vein, the Bookmarks menu's design looks much less refined than the other elements of the tool's interface.
There's no extension support, and no settings menu to go through, so user freedom is rather limited in that sense. The browser does not come with a built-in ad-blocker.
BonBon Web Browser is a promising one: by locally encrypting your personal data and browsing history, the browser seeks to respect the end user's privacy. Some users might find the software to be lacking, especially seeing as it's in early development, but if the developer roadmap is anything to go by, there's a lot of potential for improvement.
