Emerald Internet Browser

One of the most common ways to get in touch with the world is through the Internet. Web browsers are the only tickets that grant access to the information superhighway, amongst which there is Emerald Internet Browser. It's a lightweight utility that promises to deliver a simple interface and a fast result.

Running the application unveils an incredibly simple user interface with no hidden elements or surprises. Basic navigation buttons can be found in the upper toolbar, along with the address field and little else.

You can either access the HTTP or FTP but rarely are the situations in which permission is granted. A “Search” button quickly brings up one of the most commonly used engines if you urgently need to find something. Unfortunately, you cannot simply write down a word in the address field and have it looked up using the provided "Search" button.

Other than the options mentioned above, there is little else that can be done. First of all, browsing on multiple pages is only done by having other instances of the application active at the same time, due to the unimplemented tab support.

Second, addresses need to be manually entered every time because there is no history tracker to make navigation more accessible. Neither can you bookmark pages or save them as favorites, thus cutting out long term usability.

Taking everything in to consideration, we can say that Emerald Internet Browser is only good to have around if nothing else is available. Navigation speed is acceptable but important features are missing which make the application only a rookie.
